GRUB Conquered

Thanks to some help from some people at work who are much much smarter than me I finally beat GRUB into submission and got the damn Linux box to boot properly. I think GRUB is pretty nifty, but the documentation goes right into a bunch of low-level details and it's hard to get the big picture.

As I often do, I ended up relying on the frustrating experiences of others to get me out of technical jams. I simply don't have the patience to learn all of the vagaries of booting personal computers.
